Port of Oakland's Container Throughput Improved in April

The Port of Oakland’s containerized throughput rose 1.4 percent year-over-year in April, reaching 190,727 20-foot-equivalent units, including both laden and empty containers.
Fully laden containerized imports in April totaled 65,630 TEUs, increasing 3.5 percent year-over-year, with exports totaling 83,810 TEUs, improving 4.4 percent. Meanwhile, empty import containers totaled 21,322 TEUs, down 12.2 percent; export empties totaled 19,965 TEUs, down 0.8 percent.
Year-to-date, the California port handled 757,523 TEUs, up 1.3 percent year-over-year. Fully laden import containers from January to April reached 249,873 TEUs, increasing 1.1 percent year-over-year; full export containers totaled 339,284 TEUs, improving 2.2 percent. Empty import containers were 96,632 TEUs, rising 1.6 percent, and empty export boxes totaled 71,734 TEUs, decreasing 2.7 percent.
