Air Cargo Declines at San Francisco International
Bensenville, Illinois - May 7, 2013
Total cargo tonnage for San Francisco International Airport fell 13.5 percent
year-over-year in March to 28,724 metric tons, despite growth in U.S. mail
Domestic U.S. mail rose 7.4 percent year-over-year to 2,313 metric tons, but
international U.S. mail tonnage declined 3 percent to 1,485 metric tons.
Domestic cargo excluding mail plummeted 27.1 percent to 8,583 metric tons,
compared with 11,768 metric tons in the same month of 2012. International cargo
excluding mail was also off, at 16,343 metric tons, down 7.9 percent from the
level seen a year ago.
In the first three months of 2013, total cargo throughput including mail was
down 4.3 percent year-over-year to 271,265 metric tons.
